Sometimes it really becomes very exhausting to manage and remember lots of passwords. Yahoo comes up with a brilliant solution to this problem, known as Yahoo email Account Key. Now instead of using password to sign in, you can access to your account using your mobile phone. As you enable the Account key, Yahoo will send a notification to the mobile device you have chosen. By tapping on your phone, you can approve access so that your account can not be accessed by anyone. Let’s see how you can avail this service.
First of all you have to install one Yahoo app on your mobile device and keep signed in to it. Then follow the steps below to generate the Account key.
- On your Yahoo mail open Yahoo Account security page.
- Go to See how it works.
- Choose your device and app on which you want to get the notification.
- Then click on Send me a notification.
- You will receive a notification on the app you have selected.
- Now, on your mobile device, tap the Approve icon Image of the Account Key accept button.
- Go back to your web browser.
- Here you click on Always use Yahoo Account Key.
- Finally confirm your mobile phone number, which is used. It will help you in case you lose access to your device.
How to Sign in with Account Key
You must be signed into a Yahoo app on your mobile device for Account Key to work,
- Open Yahoo Sign in page.
- Entering Yahoo ID click on Next.
- You will get a notification on your Account Key enabled device.
- Tap the notification on your device
- Go to the Approve icon Image of the Account Key accept button..
- Finally enter or tap a verification code to confirm and it is done.
How to manage devices or disable Account Key
In case you are using multiple devices and Yahoo apps, then, you can easily manage them by choosing the device, where the notification is to be sent. The Account Key can also be turned off and switched back to a password if you wish to do so.
Managing the Account Key from a web browser
- Open the Yahoo Account security page.
- Click on “Yahoo Account Key,”
- Click the toggle to the right of the device that you want to turn on or off.
- Also there is an option to Disable Account Key at the bottom of the screen. By clicking on it you can switch back to a password.
How to manage Account Key from a Yahoo mobile app
- On Account Key enabled app, tap Menu icon Image.
- Go to Manage Account Key.
- Tap the toggle to the right of the device that you want to turn on or off.
- You can use the Disable Account Key at the bottom of the screen to be back to a password.
